Variety Description

SSC 2251 Squash (Cucurbita maxima)
SSC 2251 has proven to be a very good rootstock; resistant to all known Fusarium races; very easy to graft and very uniform plants; it improves the earliness of watermelon by as much as a week; it does not interfere with the flavor of watermelon as other rootstocks do.

SSC 2885 Gourd (Lagenaria siceraria)
Very vigorous plants with small stems and leaves; resistant to Fusarium, Powdery Mildew, viruses and tolerant to soil diseases; used only for rootstock to graft with melon, watermelon and cucumber; its fruit is not suitable for eating.

Campeche F1
A widely adapted watermelon variety with the Allsweet rind pattern. Vines have abundant foliage and broad leaves for fruit protection. Fruit has an elongated shape but with a larger girth than standard Allsweet. Average fruit weight is 24 lbs. Its bright red flesh and high sugars enhance the overall internal quality. Matures in 80-90 days and offers high yields over a long season. Resistant to Fusarium (race 1) and Anthracnose. An excellent pollinator due to its longer blooming cycle.

Delicia F1
An Allsweet hybrid with reamarkable fruit uniformity. Produces large, vigorous vines that offer excellent fruit protection and high yields of 18-22 lb. fruit. The fruit has a very symmetrical, oblong shape with an attractive, dark-green striped pattern. Firm, deep-red flesh with high sugars and small black seeds. A widely adapted variety with an 87 day maturity.

Ferrari
Shamrock's watermelon for the Calsweet market. It has a dramatically improved shape and a more attractive flesh color than the standards. Fruit is oblong in shape with a rind pattern of alternating wide, dark green and narrow light green stripes. Its excellent vines, vigor, and foliage contribute to a consistent production of fruit in the 18-22 lbs. range. Excellent as a pollinator.

Pacifico F1
This variety is intended for production in areas and seasons where Campeche sets fruit that is excessively large. Pacifico produces large, vigorous vines and sets elongated-blocky fruit with deep red flesh and small black seeds. The rind has a medium green back ground with wide, dark green stripes (similar pattern to Allsweet). Average fruit size is 20-25 lb. Tolerant to Anthracnose (race 1) and Fusarium (race 1). Maturity is 87 days.

Fandango® F1
A very prolific hybrid that has very wide adaptability. The fruit is oval-round in shape with a dark rind pattern (alternating dark green and light green stripes). The deep red flesh, high sugars, and crisp texture ensure remarkable eating quality. Excellent vines, vigor, and foliage cover will contribute to a consistent production of fruit in the 18-25 lbs. range. A very good shipping variety. (Requires a pollinator.)

Genesis F1
An attractive oval-round watermelon with indistinct, wide, medium green stripes on a light green background. The majority of the fruit weighs 11-18 lbs. and has very sweet, dark red, crisp flesh. Strong germination and seedling vigor give way to excellent vines with good foliage cover. It has a low incidence of hollow-heart compared to most seedless varieties, as well as good rind rot tolerance. (Requires a pollinator.)

Macarena F1
Macarena is a widely adapted watermelon that performs consistently well under a variety of growing conditions; it develops healthy vines with excellent fruit set; the fruit is uniform for size and shape, it weighs 16-20 lbs. and has a smooth, oval shape; the exterior of the fruit displays an attractive Crimson Sweet rind pattern and the rind thickness allows for long-distance shipping; the bright red flesh is crisp and high in sugars which makes for good eating quality; matures 75-85 days from transplant.

Samba F1
A very productive variety with impressive fruit uniformity. It develops very strong vines. Samba produces high yields of oval-round, large sized fruit with a dark striping pattern (Crimson Sweet rind pattern). Flesh is firm with an attractive red color and high sugars. This variety thrives under a wide range of growing conditions. Maturity is 75-85 days. (Requires a pollinator.)

Solid Gold F1
Solid Gold is a pleasantly crisp, yellow-fleshed seedless watermelon. The striking rind pattern consists of thick, light-green stripes alternating with narrower, mottled dark-green stripes. Very sweet flesh & sizes ranging from 18-20 lbs. Solid Gold has a high yield potential, strong vines, rind color that resists sunburn and superior shipping quality compared to other yellow seedless varieties. Relative maturity is 70-80 days.
